Seven-time Muay Thai and kickboxing champion Anissa Meksen has her sights set on ONE Championship gold. Still undefeated inside the circle and boasting over 100 career victories, ‘C18’ is ready for the next big step in her career and is more than ready to go through two-sport world champion Janet ‘JT’ Todd to get there. In an interview with ONE Championship, Meksen said:

“The belt. I want to face Janet Todd first. And if she had two belts, of course, I will face her in Muay Thai. This is my goal when I signed my contract with ONE so we will see what happens after this fight.”

Todd currently reigns as the undisputed ONE atomweight kickboxing world champion but captured the promotion’s interim Muay Thai world title on July 22, besting Lara Fernandez at ONE 159. She was previously scheduled to unify the Muay Thai belts in a bout with reigning world champion Allycia Hellen Rodrigues at ONE on Prime Video 5. However, Todd tested positive for COVID-19 prior to the event. The bout is expected to be rescheduled in the new year.

As for Anissa Meksen, the Muay Thai specialist is currently scheduled to face fan favorite Stamp Fairtex in the first-ever women’s mixed-rules bout at ONE on Prime Video 6 on January 13. Considering her accolades in the striking arts, Meksen has a legitimate claim to challenge Todd for any of her belts.

Anissa Meksen is confident in her MMA skills

The next time we see Muay Thai star Anissa Meksen in the circle, she will be competing in not one but two forms of combat sports. The mixed-rules format between ‘C18’ and Stamp Fairtex will see the rules alternate between Muay Thai and mixed martial arts at the beginning of each round. Though Meksen has no prior MMA bouts on her record, she is more than confident in her ability to compete with Stamp no matter where the fight goes.

“I trained MMA for a long time now, I expect a fight so it’s good for me, it’s a good opportunity so let’s see what happens in January. I’m so happy it’s the first event we’ll do MMA and Muay Thai so I’m happy to do this.”

Meksen also threw a little shade Stamp Fairtex’s way, criticizing the former two-sport champion’s popular pre-fight dance routines.

“She’s [Stamp Fairtex] a dancer, I’m a real fighter.”
