Despite Sean Strickland's hyper-masculine rhetoric and supposed penchant for violence, it isn't reflected by his fighting style, which was recently referenced by UFC content creator Nina-Marie Daniele. However, the former middleweight champion didn't take her jokes without giving as good as he got.

The pair were filming content for Daniele's vlog and took part in a lighthearted training session. During this session, Daniele poked fun at Strickland's frequent calls to fight to the death, given that his fighting style consists largely of teeps/front kicks to the body, and a laser-focused jab.

While the ex-middleweight titleholder found humor in what Daniele, a good friend and collaborator of his, said, he still responded in classic crass fashion.

"Someone woke up and said, 'I'm gonna be a d*ck today.' Really appreciate that. Are you bleeding today or what? Is that why you're a little difficult?"

Despite Strickland's distinct fighting style, he has achieved tremendous success with it, defeating the likes of Israel Adesanya in the biggest UFC middleweight upset in history, capturing the division's title at UFC 293. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to mount a single successful title defense.

He dropped the belt to Dricus du Plessis at UFC 297 in a highly competitive, even controversial, bout that ended in a split-decision. Now, the pair are scheduled to lock horns in a middleweight title rematch at UFC 312 on Feb. 9. The matchup is expected to be a competitive one.

Jared Cannonier, who defeated him via split-decision at UFC Fight Night 216, favors Strickland to emerge victorious over du Plessis. Meanwhile, fellow former middleweight champion Israel Adesanya, who has fought and lost to both Strickland and du Plessis, predicts a win for the South African.

Sean Strickland himself has confessed to lacking the ability to finish fights

At UFC Vegas 33, Sean Strickland defeated middleweight striking dynamo Uriah Hall via unanimous decision. In doing so, he broke a divisional record regarding strikes landed. Strickland, however, was hardly pleased, saying the following in frustration:

"I mean, I feel like I need to learn how to hit harder. I kind of hit like a pansy, you know? That kind of sucked. They're like, 'You know you won the middleweight striking record.' It's like, what does that mean? I just can't hit that hard."

Not only does Strickland struggle to stop his opponents, he doesn't score many submissions either, rarely ever shooting for takedowns. In fact, he recently challenged Dricus du Plessis not to wrestle in their rematch.
