Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler clash more likely to be towards December, according to Ariel Helwani
The highly anticipated return of Conor McGregor to the UFC octagon looks set for a December showdown with rival coach Michael Chandler, according to renowned journalist Ariel Helwani.
McGregor's comeback has been plagued by delays, with an initial target of UFC 303 scuppered by a toe injury. Despite claiming readiness for August, UFC president Dana White has poured cold water on the idea.
While Chandler has hinted at a September bout at the Sphere in Las Vegas, Helwani believes financial considerations make this unlikely. The journalist suggests the opulent venue is more suited to a Sean O'Malley vs Merab Dvalishvili clash, potentially as part of a Noche UFC event.
With McGregor's earning power and the exorbitant costs associated with the Sphere, Helwani's assessment points to a December timeframe for the long-awaited McGregor vs Chandler clash.
"There will be no chance Conor and Chandler will fight at the Sphere, it's just too expensive, and Conor commands too much money."
