Ariel Helwani recently shared his thoughts on Tyson Fury not sparring or working out during his open workouts ahead of his upcoming Oleksandr Usyk rematch. Fury and Usyk will share the squared circle for the second time in a heavyweight fight with the WBO, WBC, and WBA titles on the line this weekend in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Leading up to the fight, Fury caused quite a fan frenzy by refusing to spar during the open workout session. The Englishman simply warmed up and waved to the crowd, which was eager to see him show off his moves. While many were upset at him for not giving the crowd what they came to see, Helwani had a different take.

In an X post, the veteran journalist shared his "unpopular opinion" and stated that open workouts are "useless" in these times. He wrote:

"Unpopular opinion? I don’t mind Fury not working out. In fact, more people are talking about his “workout” than had he actually worked out. The public workouts are fine but pretty useless these days. He’s done enough. GSP used to do the same thing."

One fan wrote:

"Yeah... It feels very "prance the show horse around before auction" type. Not really needed."

Another fan wrote:

"He was actually committed to this bit. And to be fair, everything around this rematch is entertaining so far."

Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury rematch to feature AI-powered judge

The highly anticipated Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury rematch will reportedly feature a one-of-a-kind Artificial Intelligence (AI) judge to provide additional scoring. This "groundbreaking experiment" was formally announced by Turki Alalshikh ahead of the fight this weekend.

In an X post, Alalshikh outlined his plan for the AI judge to score the Usyk-Fury rematch and claimed it would be "free from bias and human error", writing:

"For the first time ever, an AI-powered judge will monitor the fight. Free from bias and human error brought to you by The Ring. This groundbreaking experiment, which won’t impact the official results, debuts during the biggest fight of the century, #Usyk2Fury, on December 21. Don’t miss history in the making."
