Arman Tsarukyan recently expressed his belief that Islam Makhachev, the current lightweight champion, doesn’t deserve the title of No.1 pound-for-pound (P4P) fighter in the UFC rankings over Jon Jones.
While Tsarukyan respects Makhachev, he believes that the honor belongs to Jones, citing the American's legendary career. Tsarukyan further stated that Makhachev could only claim the top spot after Jones retires.
Speaking to MMA Junkie in the lead-up to the UFC 308 event, 'Ahalkalakets' said:
"No, he [Makhachev] doesn’t deserve it... I agree the No.1 pound-for-pound is Jon Jones because he’s a legend. He’s still fighting. We’ll see. Next month he’s fighting and if he beats Stipe Miocic, he’s got to be No.1 pound-for-pound. Then when he retires, of course it’s Islam.”

Arman Tsarukyan weighs in on Charles Oliveira vs. Michael Chandler at UFC 309
Arman Tsarukyan predicts Charles Oliveira will dominate Michael Chandler in their Nov. 16 clash at Madison Square Garden, labeling Chandler as an “easy fight” for the Brazilian. According to Tsarukyan, Oliveira is likely to either knock Chandler out or submit him.
In the same interview with MMA Junkie, the lightweight contender said:
"Michael Chandler is going to lose for sure, He's the number one easy fight for Charles Oliveira. He's going to choke him out or knock him out. He's easy money for Oliveira, so I'm so happy for him." [4:35]
Tsarukyan and Oliveira previously faced off in April at UFC 300, with Tsarukyan winning a close split decision. Should Oliveira defeat Chandler, Tsarukyan anticipates a rematch between them:
"I'm going to fight with Islam and then after that fight he's for sure going to fight for the title. He has a big name, he was the champion and UFC loves him." [5:00]
