Arman Tsarukyan has seconded current featherweight king Ilia Topuria’s plans to move to lightweight in pursuit of double champion status.

The UFC's lightweight division, which has featured big stars like Dustin Poirier, Justin Gaethje, Charles Oliveira, Conor McGregor, and Khabib Nurmagomedov, among others, is among the most exciting in the sport.

In 2024, Topuria stated his intention to move to lightweight and challenge the current champion, Islam Makhachev. The Dagestani, however, had no interest in fighting 'El Matador', having already beaten former 145-pound king Alexander Volkanovski twice.

Tsarukyan, who will square off against Makhachev in a rematch at UFC 311, recently appeared on the MMA Junkie podcast and shared his views on why the Spaniard should move up to lightweight. 'Ahalkalakets' said:

"He should move to 155 because he has a big name. As much as we have big names in our division, it’s gonna be better for us, you know. We gonna make more money, and our weight class gonna be like, you know, famous. It’s still famous.”

Arman Tsarukyan is optimistic about his striking ahead of UFC 311: "Maybe I don’t even need one takedown!"

The renowned Dagestani wrestling doesn't concern Arman Tsarukyan, the challenger who many consider Islam Makhachev's most formidable opponent to date.

At UFC 311, Tsarukyan believes he can knock out Makhachev, get revenge for his defeat in 2019, and win the lightweight title. In an interview with Kevin Iole, expressing confidence ahead of UFC 311, 'Ahalkalakets' said:

"I mean, maybe I don’t even need one takedown! Maybe I just need one good hook and that is it. I do work a lot on my boxing in this camp, I believe now my hands are way stronger than it was. I can not wait to go there and show what I was preparing."
