Arman Tsarukyan is doing everything in his power to dethrone Islam Makhachev as lightweight champion at UFC 311, including training at high altitude. He shared recent training footage on his official YouTube channel, revealing that he has been working on his cardio near Mount Elbrus.

The aforementioned mountain is the tallest in Europe, standing 18,510 feet above sea level. When Tsarukyan first faced Makhachev years ago in his promotional debut, he did so on short notice.

Despite mounting a commendable effort, he tired within three rounds, sealing Makhachev's unanimous decision win.

This time, he won't make the same mistake, following the same high-altitude camp that helped improve Khamzat Chimaev's own gas tank and prepared him for his triumphant showing against ex-middleweight champion Robert Whittaker.

This was pointed out by a fan on X, who snapped a screenshot from Tsarukyan's video before penning the following caption:

"Arman Tsarukyan is training at the same place Khamzat Chimaev trained for his fight against Whittaker."

Meanwhile, Makhachev is himself training hard, with the lightweight champion being pushed to his absolute limits by UFC Hall of Famer Khabib Nurmagomedov, who is keeping him on his toes. The UFC 311 main event, which is set for Jan. 18, will be a heavily contested one.

Makhachev is determined to solidify himself as the dominant force at lightweight following criticism that his championship legacy has been built off of fighting featherweights and over-the-hill standouts.

Conversely, Tsarukyan will be aiming to fulfill his championship dreams by finally capturing UFC gold.

Arman Tsarukyan and Khamzat Chimaev had a brief grappling session recently

Not long ago, Arman Tsarukyan and Khamzat Chimaev served as competing coaches on Hype Fighting Championship's reality TV show, which exhibited similarities to The Ultimate Fighter.

During filming, Tsarukyan and Chimaev engaged each other in a friendly wrestling match.

Naturally, due to Chimaev's combination of skill, size, and strength, he was fairly dominant in the affair.

Tsarukyan, though, wasn't completely helpless, defending himself to the best of his ability against a much bigger opponent, who has manhandled bigger foes than him.
