Arman Tsarukyan alluded to a secret "technique" he plans to use on UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev at UFC 311 on Jan. 18. Tsarukyan is scheduled to fight against Makhachev in a rematch from 2019. The first encounter between the pair ended in a unanimous decision victory for Makhachev in April 2019.
Both the fighters have grown immensely since that encounter, as they share a combined record of 18-1 in the octagon. Tsarukyan's last two performances have seen him knock out Beneil Dariush and beating Charles Oliveira via unanimous decision.
Tsarukyan made an appearance on the Pound 4 Pound podcast hosted by Kamaru Usman and Henry Cejudo. Here's what he said on his secret technique:
"This is good move, good things you know and he's going to be surprised, I've never done it before. It’s not going to be an axe kick, people already know I’ve done axe kick before."

Charles Oliveira gives his prediction for Islam Makhachev vs. Arman Tsarukyan title fight
Former lightweight champion Charles Oliveira gave his prediction for the upcoming title fight at UFC 311 between Islam Makhachev and Arman Tsarukyan. Notably, Makhachev defeated Oliveira at UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi to become the lightweight kingpin.
On the other hand, Oliveira and Tsarukyan competed in a razor-close contest at UFC 300. The fight ended in a split decision with many believing 'Do Bronx' was the winner. Speaking to Manouk Akopyan about the upcoming title clash, Oliveira said:
"It's not even that I'm 50-50, you know? I just think that they're both really great, amazing fighters and, you know, my point is that Islam has improved a lot in the standup. You know, you can look at their first fight and there's a lot of grappling, but I feel like Islam has improved a lot in the standup so I feel like that can make a difference.
