Nico Carrillo has shown ever since he debuted in ONE Championship that he is a phenomenal athlete. He clearly has some natural gifts but that kind of power, speed, and conditioning can only be maintained with total dedication.
Fortunately for the Scottish contender, he is in love with his training and one specific aspect of it in particular.
When he isn't sharpening his dangerous weapons, you're likely to find him pushing the pace on a run. Nico Carrillo spoke about his love of running during a recent appearance on the Leather'd Podcast:
"Yeah. Running. I love different types of running. I love ultra running. But for example, we've done 20 reps of 240 meters on. 20 reps of 240 meters off. It's drills. It's like you're running as hard as you can for 240 meters and then you're 240 meters recovering. But it's on drills. So your 240 meters may be on an incline or your recovery may be on an incline, so you're not really recovering.

"But that was this morning's session. But I love to change my sessions. Right now, I've been quite explosive with this stuff. Obviously, I love the feeling you get after Thai boxing, but the question is tailored to this fight? So I love the feeling you get after a hard fast run. It's the only thing you feel like accomplished. And it's free as well. It's as close to flying as you can get. You feel strong. You feel fast. And then you're looking at your watch and you're like 'Wow, I'm super fast!'"

Nico Carrillo will look to put Superlek through his paces at ONE 170
On Jan. 24, Nico Carrillo will put the running shoes down and pick up his gloves for the biggest fight of his career to date.
In the co-main event of ONE 170 at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand, he will challenge Superlek Kiatmoo9 for the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion.
Everyone knows how powerful Carrillo is, but if he's able to maintain this into the later rounds, he could really test 'The Kicking Machine' late on.
