Fans took to the comments section and complimented the Canadian for his effort in attempting to get interviews, while others noted that there was a positive takeaway as other star athletes agreed to an interview. Others chimed in and mentioned that he could have possibly had more success if he introduced himself differently. They wrote:
"At least you tried [laughing emoji]"
"Reminded me of the golden age of interviews with @Rampage4real. We need more clips like this Ariel."
"Reality can occasionally be a type of fantasy in this profession, or vice versa! As for the snub(s)...maybe emphasize your role as the 'King of the MMAs' or some such? Just a thought! [laughing emoji]"
Ariel Helwani wasn't snubbed by star athletes
Although Ariel Helwani didn't have the best of luck with celebrities, there were a number of star athletes that spoke to him on the Olympics Opening Ceremony red carpet.
During the aforementioned clip, Helwani was seen interviewing the likes of former Super Bowl winner Peyton Manning, former UEFA Champions League winner Didier Drogba, and four-time Olympic gold medalist Michael Johnson. While interviewing the latter, the Canadian got his thoughts on his famous rivalry with former 100m world record holder Donovan Bailey.
