Aung La N Sang knows a thing or two about becoming a simultaneous double world champion inside the Circle. For two years, ‘The Burmese Python’ held both the middleweight and light heavyweight world titles, successfully defending both.
At ONE on Prime Video 4 on November 18, ‘The Warrior’ Christian Lee will attempt to follow in Aung La’s footsteps by winning the welterweight world championship. The current ONE lightweight world champion will move up a weight class to face Kiamrian Abbasov, who will be returning to his own weight class after attempting a similar feat against two-division world champion Reinier de Ridder for the middleweight crown.
In an interview with The MMA Super-Fan, Aung La N Sang put his faith in the skills of Christian Lee as he faces the biggest fight of his career to date:
“I think he can pull it off, he has all the tools you know. But at the same time we’ll see how Abbasov comes back from his last loss you know.”

Christian Lee steps into the fight after recently avenging his loss to Ok Rae Yoon with a dominant performance, winning back his lightweight belt with a second-round TKO.
For his part, ‘The Burmese Python’ will make his own return to the Circle just a few hours later at ONE 163, facing a fellow Asian MMA legend in Yushin Okami. This is a must-win for the former middleweight and light heavyweight champion.
Aung La N Sang understands he needs to "beat a few more guys" so he can "climb back to the top"
Former ONE two-division world champion ‘The Burmese Python’ Aung La N Sang is set to square off with a fellow veteran and legend in Yushin Okami at ONE 163 in Singapore. The fight will be Aung La’s first fight in eight months after his loss to long-time rival Vitaly Bigdash in their trilogy fight.
Whilst fans have questioned when the former champion would return, it appears that he has taken time to learn from his losses and try to recapture his world championship form. Going 1-3 in his last four bouts, Aung La has struggled to compete against elite grapplers.
In an interview with SCMP MMA, he spoke about making the right adjustments in his training camp to set him up for a return to the top of the sport:
"I have really high-level grapplers at my disposal that I can work with. So it's not a matter of, ‘Can I do it?’ it's a matter of when. It's going to take time, I'm probably going to have to beat a few more guys. So it is what it is. I'm willing to climb back to the top."
Whilst he has been working and improving away from the Circle, Aung La N Sang still knows that he has to prove himself once again if he is to remain in the world championship picture.
