‘The Burmese Python’ Aung La N Sang is officially confirmed to fight at ONE Fight Night 10: Johnson vs. Moraes III this May.

Like many other American athletes on the roster, the Burmese-American icon has been gunning for a spot on the historic fight card since ONE Championship made it official on their website last year.

Aung La expressed his happiness and excitement on Instagram with a caption that read:

“Colorado 🏔️ here we come! 1st time in 10 years, I will be fighting in the USA 🇺🇸. Can’t wait to put on a show.”

Born in Myanmar, ‘The Burmese Python’ moved to the US at the age of 18 to study abroad and build himself a better life. Little did he know that he would develop a genuine passion for martial arts more than the agricultural sciences.

The first art he ever learned was Brazilian jiu-jitsu in a gym located in South Bend, Indiana. After some time, the Burma native was proficient enough to eventually land his first professional gig as a light heavyweight.

He fought in multiple promotions across the US, amassing a stellar record of 16 wins and 9 losses before signing with ONE Championship in 2014. After building an impressive resume with the Asia-based promotion, the former two-division world champion is happy to put on a show on American soil for the first time in a decade.

Aung La N Sang believes he’s ready to challenge for a world title

Aung La N Sang is ready to challenge the current middleweight world champion Reinier de Ridder once again for the belt.

With two straight finishes in his last two outings, the Burmese veteran believes he’s next in line for a title shot.

He told the press at the post-fight interviews at ONE Fight Night 6:

“I’ve been the most dominant champion so I mean, I feel like two finishes, two fights, I should be [next for the title] but it’s up to Chatri [Sityodtong] you know, I have one more run in me and I need to make the most of it so it’s really up to Chatri and the ONE team, but I’m ready man.”

Aung La N Sang and Reinier de Ridder will both be in ONE Championship’s US debut, as they are scheduled to compete at ONE Fight Night 10. However, it won’t be against each other for the middleweight gold just yet.

It was recently announced that De Ridder will be competing in a submission grappling contest against Tye Ruotolo.
