In an interview with SCMP MMA, Aung La explained that he still has a title run left in him. He was asked if he is motivated to silence the doubters, to which he said:

"Yeah, for sure it does a little bit. I'm still growing, I'm still learning and I'm still working on my craft to be better. And I do believe that I still have a run in me, so I'm going to keep improving and keep getting better, go back to my grappling and keep working on it."

"I have really high-level grapplers at my disposal that I can work with. So it's not a matter of, ‘Can I do it?’ It's a matter of when. It's going to take time, I'm probably going to have to beat a few more guys. So it is what it is. I'm willing to climb back to the top."
