Former two-division world champion Aung La N Sang is making a case for himself to be included in ONE Championship’s first-ever live show in the United States in May, banking on the massive support that Burmese fans give their sports heroes regardless of where they are in the world.

ONE is set to descend on Colorado, USA, for ONE Fight Night 10 on May 5, which will be headlined by the trilogy fight between reigning ONE flyweight world champion Demetrious ’Mighty Mouse' Johnson and former champ Adriano ‘Mikinho’ Moraes.

The groundbreaking foray of ONE is something Burmese-American Aung La N Sang wants to be a part of, seeing how he can help the promotion in drawing in the crowd considering the Burmese fans’ fervent passion in supporting one of their own. This is apart from the event further spotlighting the abilities of fighters like him in a big market like the US.

In his post-fight interview at ONE Fight Night 6 on January 13 in Bangkok, he said:

“I know there's a card in Denver, that will be cool. And my friends and I will show up in any city in the world. We have 60 million Burmese in the world, they're going to show up no matter which city it is.”

Aung La N Sang, the former ONE middleweight and light heavyweight world champion, has been on a roll of late, winning back-to-back fights, most recently at ONE Fight Night 6 over Brazilian Gilberto Galvao in a catchweight showdown by technical knockout in the first round.

Aung La N Sang not rushing to world title shot, just wants to entertain the fans

‘The Burmese Python’ Aung La N Sang is not in a hurry to get a world title shot, channeling his focus for now on fine-tuning his game and giving fight fans the top-class performance they want.

Aung La N Sang was quick to say though that regaining the ONE middleweight world title he lost to Dutch Reinier De Ridder remains a fuel for him moving forward but is just taking it one step at a time and keeping himself active so that when a world title shot comes his way, he will be up for it.

In an interview with SCMP MMA, he shared:

“I’m sure De Ridder’s gonna need some time off, so it’s okay. I wanna stay active. I wanna keep improving as a mixed martial artist; fill in some of my holes. And just keep being a better mixed martial artist and also just keep putting on exciting shows for the fans. That to me is very important. I wanna see exciting bouts…as a fan I wanna put on great shows for the fans as well.”

Aung La once simultaneously held the middleweight and light heavyweight world titles before losing them in successive fashion to de Ridder. But he has been on a roll these past few months, going undefeated in his last two fights.
