Aung La N Sang got candid in an interview recently, noting that his fight with Yushin Okami couldn’t have come at a better moment.

‘The Burmese Python’ is ready to realize one of his ultimate dreams in touching gloves with MMA pioneer ‘Thunder’ Yushin Okami at ONE 163 this month. It’s been a long time in the making and ONE Championship has finally set the date for Saturday, November 19 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Seeing how it took the promotion more than a year to make this fight happen, after a series of requests from both legends on Twitter this year, the Burmese legend is grateful that the opportunity hasn’t been passed.

He candidly told The MMA Superfan:

“If we don’t do it now, we’ll never do it.

As the Aung La suggested, this fight needs to happen now. Especially when they're both fit, healthy, and hungry for a comeback, which is a rarity in big fights of this caliber.

The 41-year-old Okami is coming off of a razor-close, split-decision victory against Agilan Thani in October 2019, after suffering back-to-back losses under the promotion. Giving more than two decades of his life to the sport, he's excited to bring everything he’s got in what could possibly be his retirement fight.

Aung La N Sang doesn’t want to stay stagnant, hopes to keep busy with more fights

As the former ONE middleweight and light heavyweight world champion, Aung La N Sang expects to stage his comeback to world title contention one fight at a time.

The 37-year-old icon hasn’t stepped into the ring since his trilogy loss to Vitaly Bigdash this past February at ONE: Full Circle. As painful as the loss was to Aung La, he has high hopes that he’ll become champion once again, but maintains that in order to do so, you need fights.

Happy to get the ball rolling with Yushin Okami, the Florida-based fighter revealed that he would’ve accepted any fight if it meant staying busy.

In the same interview, he said:

“I just wanna stay busy, honestly I just wanted to stay busy. When they offered me that [fight], it was great. And I know [Okami] he has a lot of fans in Japan, so it’s gonna be a fun one for the fans, for sure.”
