Former two-division world champion Aung La N Sang believes his next opponent is not going to lose without a fight.
‘The Burmese Python’ is slated to face Brazilian MMA veteran Gilberto Galvao in a catchweight bout this Friday, January 13, at ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video.
‘Giba’ Galvao returns to competition after a wild three-year hiatus, taking the fight on two weeks’ notice as a replacement for Chinese middleweight Fan Rong.
The fact that he’s given another opportunity to fight on the big stage is a tremendous source of motivation for the 40-year-old stalwart to put on a show for fans in US primetime.

Aung La is therefore right to believe that Galvao is a dangerous matchup for him.
In a pre-fight interview with the South China Morning Post (SCMP), the Burmese-American icon said:
“Gilberto Galvao has nothing to lose and a lot to gain. Beating me is like a title implication for a lot of these guys so I know he’s gonna come hard. But you know, I believe I have what it takes to get the win and I’m sure he does too. But, it’s always a dangerous fight when you fight somebody [who has nothing to] lose and everything to gain.”

‘The Burmese Python’ returns to the foray nearly seven weeks after his last outing. He came out uninjured and in impeccable shape after crushing Japanese MMA icon Yushin Okami at ONE 163 last November.
On the road to world title contention, Aung La is fully aware of his abilities as a mixed martial artist. He’s still one of the scariest strikers in the middleweight rankings, with a record that boasts 28 wins and 11 knockout finishes.
If Galvao decides to go strike-for-strike with Aung La on January 13, the Brazilian veteran will quickly forget where he is.
Aung La N Sang praises Chatri Sityodtong for staying true to his word
Aung La N Sang praised CEO and Chairman Chatri Sityodtong for staying true to his word in giving him another back-to-back fight.
Over the last year, the Burmese-American icon has had only two competitive fights under the promotion. At the beginning of 2022, Aung La fell short to Russian powerhouse Vitaly Bigdash in a world title eliminator bout at ONE: Full Circle.
After taking some time to recover and improve on all aspects of MMA, he returned to the circle nine months later to face Okami.
Post-fight, 'The Burmese Python' vowed to stay more active in the future after making quick work of Okami. To his surprise, his wish was granted right off the bat.
The 37-year-old athlete shared the details on his Instagram with the following caption:
“When I walked out of the @onechampionship circle my last fight, @yodchatri told me that he wants me back in 6 weeks. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to fight in Bangkok 🇹🇭 and keeping your word.”
