Aung La N Sang knows that the clock is ticking on his opportunity to become a ONE world champion once again.
‘The Burmese Python’ hit a string of bad luck in recent years, but back-to-back first-round finishes in his last two outings have sprung new life into one of the promotion’s most beloved fighters.
Following his latest win inside the circle, Aung La believes he is on the cusp of a world title opportunity but understands that it is ultimately up to the ONE CEO, Chatri Sityodtong, and the promotion's matchmakers to decide:
“I mean, I've been the most dominant champion. So, I feel like two finishes, and two fights should be it, but it's up to Chatri. I have one run in me and I need to make the most of it. It's really up to Chatri and the ONE team, but I'm ready, man, I'm ready whenever you guys are.”

After getting back in the win column with an impressive finish over Japanese MMA icon Yushin ‘Thunder’ Okami at ONE 163, Aung La N Sang delivered an equally impressive victory against returning Brazilian veteran Gilberto Galvao at ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video.
With his status as a former two-division world champion and one of the most popular fighters under the ONE banner, Aung La could find himself with a world title opportunity sooner rather than later. Do you believe ‘The Burmese Python’ has done enough to earn a title shot?
Aung La N Sang wants to compete in the legendary Lumpinee Stadium
In addition to ONE Championship’s weekly run at the legendary Lumpinee Stadium in Thailand, which kicks off this Friday, the promotion will return to the iconic combat sports venue on February 25 for ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video.
With the promotion airing events from the nearly 70-year-old venue throughout 2023, Aung La N Sang is eager to find himself booked for an appearance:
“I would love to be on one of those cards. It would be amazing. As a fighter, for us to go to Japan and compete in the sumo arena, that was historical and amazing. To do that in Lumpinee Stadium would be amazing as well.”
Aung La continued, saying:
“It’s one of those things that you can only dream of. Not many fighters can say they fought in Lumpinee Stadium. Not many fighters can say they fought in the sumo arena in Tokyo. It would be great for me.”
