An old hero is back and his name is Aung La N Sang.

The Burmese legend returns to action and he'll take on the undefeated Shamil Erdogan in a pivotal middleweight mixed martial arts contest when ONE Championship stages its live event in the United States this year.

Aung La's match against Erdogan transpires at ONE 168: Denver at Ball Arena on September 6, US primetime.

ONE Championship announced the development on its social media pages:

"HE'S BACK 🤩 Aung La N Sang makes his highly anticipated return to action at ONE 168: Denver! In his way stands undefeated wrestling monster Shamil Erdogan 👀 Who you got in this middleweight MMA clash? @aunglansang @lion_no_sleep."

Aung La is one of the most important fighters in ONE Championship history, and the Burmese folk hero is often considered one of the promotion's pillars during its rapid growth in the late 2010s.

'The Burmese Python' once held the ONE middleweight and light heavyweight MMA world titles, simultaneously, from 2018 to 2020.

The 39-year-old has 15 wins in the promotion and has an absurd 86.67 finish rate in his victories.

Aung La is also riding a three-fight winning streak against Fan Rong, Gilberto Galvao, and Japanese legend Yushin Okami.

Tickets for ONE 168: Denver are available at Ticketmaster.

Aung La N Sang ready to unleash pent-up power on anyone who dare go up against him

Aung La N Sang has waited long enough, and he's now ready to lay waste on his path to reclaim his lost throne.

The former double-champ is hellbent on reclaiming the ONE middleweight MMA world title, the strap which became almost synonymous to his name.

In a previous interview with Sportskeeda MMA, Aung La practically issued an open challenge against the entire middleweight MMA division in ONE Championship.

"I do want to fight all the middleweights. I'm known as the gatekeeper but I'm ready to keep beating all the middleweights. It's time for me to step up and make my title run."
