Former two-division ONE champion Aung La N Sang took a big step towards earning a shot at reacquiring his title, securing a first-round stoppage at ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video. Moving forward, he's willing to do whatever it takes to get his belt back.

'The Burmese Python' scored an opening-round TKO victory over Gilberto Galvao at ONE Fight Night 6, marking his second straight first-round finish. The 37-year-old is now 3-1 since losing both his belts to Reinier de Ridder.

Aung La N Sang spoke about his current mindset following his recent outing in the post-fight interview:

"I guess winning my world title back, it's one of those things. It's like, when you're defending, it's a different mindset, when you're conquering, it's a different mindset. I feel like I'm in that conquering mindset right now. I want to conquer my world title back."

The former middleweight and light heavyweight champ added:

"I think that's going to be a big achievement because the person on top usually falls and it's usually hard for them to climb back up. I want to be able to climb back up, whatever it takes."

Aung La is on the right track to garner a world title fight, with recent first-round finishes over Leandro Ataides, Yushin Okami, and the aforementioned Galvao.

Aung La N Sang isn't rushing a title shot, just wants to entertain the fans

Despite wanting nothing more than to regain his status as a world champion, Aung La isn't in a rush to get the belt back.

He told SCMP MMA:

“I’m sure de Ridder’s gonna need some time off, so it’s okay. I wanna stay active. I wanna keep improving as a mixed martial artist; fill in some of my holes. And just keep being a better mixed martial artist and also just keep putting on exciting shows for the fans. That to me is very important. I wanna see exciting bouts…as a fan, I wanna put on great shows for the fans as well.”

Current middleweight king Reinier de Ridder is coming off of a loss to Anatoly Malykhin in December, and will likely need some time to recover.

Make sure to check back with Sportskeeda for an announcement pertaining to Aung La's next fight, as he continues to climb the middleweight ladder.
