Khamzat Chimaev was recently seen getting great work done with the UFC's No. 1-ranked lightweight contender and MMA fans online took notice of it. Robert Whittaker is next in Chimaev's crosshairs as the two will throw down this weekend.
UFC 308 marks the return of Chimaev after over a year outside of the cage as he looks to defeat the former UFC middleweight champion in the pay-per-view co-main event on Oct. 26. During fight week, a photo was shared of the undefeated mixed martial artist getting in some solid training with Arman Tsarukyan. There was also video footage of Chimaev's solo training as he looked fast and on point.
Several X users made their thoughts known on the post and a sizable thread built up on X as we head closer to Khamzat Chimaev vs. Robert Whittaker.

The reason behind Khamzat Chimaev scrapping the first Robert Whittaker booking
Khamzat Chimaev and Robert Whittaker will get locked inside of a cage this weekend but it was supposed to have taken place in the summer. The pair of pugilists were supposed to be the main event of UFC Saudi Arabia on June 22 and headline that Fight Night offering.
The 30-year-old would have to withdraw from the Whittaker matchup after becoming violently ill a bit over one week before the card. Ikram Aliskerov would take Chimaev's spot and would be finished with strikes in relatively short order before the initially targeted Fight Night main event was rescheduled for Q4 of 2024 here.
'Borz' has finally come out to discuss some of the specifics related to the sickness that scrapped the June booking. This was something Khamzat Chimaev got into on a recent UFC Countdown show where he described how things began to fall apart a few months back.
The Russian native spoke about how the first month of camp was very good according to Chimaev but in the last few weeks of preparations, his immunity started to wane. Chimaev stated he would eat the same food as his teammates but he would come out of it ill. He did not know what was happening and was in the hospital for a couple of days to be observed more closely.
Chimaev attempted to return to training after his brief hospital stint but he encountered the same issues. His doctor implored him to rest and avoid training. The UFC star was told to do nothing to fully recover and Khamzat Chimaev stated he went to the mountains thereafter. It seems like he is fully charged and ready to go with Chimaev versus Whittaker set to transpire in just a few days at UFC 308.
