Current welterweight champion Belal Muhammad was sidelined for several months after being diagnosed with a bone infection. Because of the condition, he was forced to withdraw from his first title defense against Shavkat Rakhmonov. He recently announced on YouTube that he has been medically approved to resume training.
Muhammad has maintained his usual level of social media activity. He recently commented on Kabib Nurmagomedov's busy night at UFC 311, where he will be the cornerman for Islam Makhachev, who will defend his lightweight title against Arman Tsarukyan.
In addition to Makachev, Nurmagomedov will be in the corner for the co-main event, featuring Umar Nurmagomedov battling Merab Dvalishvilli and the Tagir Ulanbekov-Clayton Carpenter bout in the early prelims.
'The Eagle' amusingly expressed his thoughts on the upcoming UFC 311 fights on his Instagram and wrote:

Belal Muhammad admits that he finds it difficult to compete with Kabib Nurmagomedov in the gym
Kabib Nurmagomedov, who has a 29-0 unblemished record, announced his retirement in 2020. Over the course of his career, he was noted for his incredible wrestling, grappling, and striking abilities.
Belal Muhammad recently told Demetrius Johnson in a YouTube video that 'The Eagle' once ordered coffee in the middle of a grappling session in the gym with the current welterweight champion.
The American phenom said:
"Whenever you go with him, it’s kind of like embarrassing. It’s not even like humbling, because he just kills you to the point, where he’s on top of me, and he’s about to get me in a Kimura, and he’s like ordering coffee to his boy outside the cage."
