Since he retired from competition, Khabib Nurmagomedov has coached Islam Makhachev to a championship and could now be an integral part of Belal Muhammad becoming the next welterweight titleholder. As 'Remember the Name' broke down ahead of UFC 304, the work he has done with the Eagles MMA team is a key part of the confidence he feels entering the biggest fight of his career.
Muhammad told Shakiel Mahjouri of CBS Sports that Nurmagomedov has pushed him to "another level" during training camp. The 36-year-old called training with Nurmagomedov the equivalent of working "50 days with anybody else."
Muhammad said:
"[Training with Nurmagomedov] benefits me everywhere. Physically, mentally and spiritually it just puts me on another level. Training with him and getting advice from him is worth 20, 30, 40 or 50 days with anybody else."

Muhammad has worked with Nurmagomedov since before his fight with Sean Brady in 2022, a fight that saw him record his first knockout win since his second UFC appearance in 2016. Though Muhammad is not from Dagestan like the former UFC lightweight champion, the two share the same religious views as Muslims.
Belal Muhammad says Khabib Nurmagomedov gave him a 'game plan' for UFC 304 fight
Khabib Nurmagomedov is not expected to be in the corner of Belal Muhammad at UFC 304 but the welterweight title challenger has said that the retired UFC champion has given him a gameplan to implement against Leon Edwards.
In his conversation with Shakiel Mahjouri, Muhammad recalled Nurmagomedov going over the stylistic matchup of Edwards with him and creating a 'game plan' for him to use in the fight.
The fight will be a rematch of a main event bout from 2021 that ended with a no-contest due to an eye poke from Edwards temporarily blinding Muhammad. Neither fighter has lost a fight since and owns the two longest unbeaten streaks in the division.
