Belal Muhammad's first title defense will have to wait. 'Remember the Name' has withdrawn from UFC 310 due to a bone infection in his left foot. This delays his highly anticipated welterweight championship bout with Shavkat Rakhmonov.
The champion took to both X and Instagram to inform fans about his health. While he didn't reveal exactly how the infection came to be, he did offer a few details, including the length for which he'll be taking antibiotics.
Despite the difficulty of his predicament, Muhammad remains optimistic and promised the MMA world that he will return to top form in due time:
"Caught a bone infection in my foot .. had to put a picc line in my arm for IV antibiotics the next 6 weeks with no physical activity ... Allah's plan is the best plan. I'm sorry to everyone that were coming to see me. I'll be back soon inshAllah"

With the delay, the UFC is reportedly seeking a replacement matchup for Muhammad's now scrapped title fight with the unbeaten Rakhmonov. With no information on when Muhammad can be expected to return, UFC 310 is now without a headline bout.
However, it remains a strong card, with several high-profile bouts like the Ciryl Gane vs. Alexander Volkov rematch and the return of Nick Diaz against welterweight power-puncher Vicente Luque. Furthermore, it also features the long-awaited featherweight grudge match between Aljamain Sterling and Movsar Evloev.
Its remaining championship bout, meanwhile, is Alexandre Pantoja's flyweight title defense against UFC debutant Kai Asakura.
Belal Muhammad's foot infection seems localized to a single toe
A series of photos of Belal Muhammad's infected foot has circulated online.
Taken from his Instagram page, the photos reveal that Muhammad's infection appears localized on his middle toe, which is inflamed, swollen, and stitched. The nature of the infection though, remains unknown.
The infection could stem from a training injury that lacerated his toe. Regardless, Muhammad will look to recover quickly, having become one of several high-profile UFC fighters to have injured his foot in some form.
Conor McGregor, who was originally scheduled to fight at UFC 303, broke his toe and was forced to withdraw.
