Belal Muhammad has always supported Gerald Meerschaert, and that support was evident after the middleweight's record-breaking win at UFC Vegas 96. While the two do not train at the same gym, their constant backing of one another has been consistent throughout their careers.

Among the many showering Meerschaert with praise for his performance, Muhammad shared his thoughts immediately after the win. Like most fans, 'Remember the Name' was stunned by the performance and congratulated 'GM3' after his victory.

The welterweight champion commented on a post of Meerschaert's win from ESPN MMA on Instagram, calling the 36-year-old a "ground shark."

While Muhammad bases his camp at the Valle Flow Striking Academy in Chicago and Meerschaert primarily trains with the Kill Cliff FC and Roufusport teams, the two consider themselves teammates. Muhammad mentioned as much ahead of UFC Vegas 45, saying how he felt it was an honor to share the card with Meerschaert.

The win gave Meerschaert his 12th finish in the UFC Octagon, the most in UFC middleweight history. He entered the night tied with Anderson Silva for the most in the division with 11 but is now in sole possession of first.

Belal Muhammad shouts out Michael Morales at UFC Vegas 96

Gerald Meerschaert was not the only fighter Belal Muhammad supported at UFC Vegas 96, as the welterweight champion also had ties to rising contender Michael Morales. One fight after Meerschaert submitted Edmen Shahbazyan, Morales knocked out Neil Magny in the first round to become a ranked contender.

After the fight, Morales mentioned Muhammad in his post-fight interview, having trained with the 36-year-old champion to prepare for the fight. 'Remember the Name' shouted out the Ecuadorian on social media, calling him the "real deal."

Morales primarily trains with the Entram Gym in Mexico, led by Raul Entram, but traveled to Chicago to spend part of his fight camp with Muhammad.
