A Bellator star recently called out the misquoted translation after Usman Nurmagomedov promised he would have the same fate as Conor McGregor. The reigning Bellator lightweight champion has yet to lose a fight and is looking to continue his dominance when the promotion hosts their first event in Dubai.
'The Eagle's protege is scheduled to headline the card on Jan.25 as he defends his Bellator lightweight championship against Paul Hughes. The Irishman earned his title shot after earning a split decision win over former featherweight champion A.J. McKee this past October.
Hughes' recent comments caught the attention of the reigning lightweight champion, who appeared to take offense and promised that he would share the same fate as his countryman when he fought his cousin, Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229:
"Irish chatterbox part two. Everyone knows what happened to the first one...The second one will suffer the same fate."

'Big News' took to the comment section to clarify that his comments were taken out of translation. Hughes mentioned that he described what he was willing to do in order to defeat him rather than what he wanted to do to him:
"Wrong translation. I said I'm willing to go to the depths of hell to beat him. But sure Yano yourself."

Why did Usman Nurmagomedov reference Conor McGregor?
It's no surprise that Usman Nurmagomedov referenced Conor McGregor as his upcoming title defense against Paul Hughes is being billed as 'Dagestan vs. Ireland 2'. The promotion of the bout is strategic and logical as 'Big News' is regarded as one of the top stars fighting out of Ireland, while Nurmagomedov is regarded as one of his cousin's top pupils.
There is clearly no love lost between Nurmagomedov's cousin, Khabib, and McGregor as they were involved in a heated and personal rivalry that got worse even after their fight was over.
'The Eagle' submitted the Irishman in the main event of UFC 229 before jumping over the cage and attacking his team, which resulted in the infamous post-fight brawl.
