Beneil Dariush has extended his impressive win streak to eight fights in a row after getting the better of highly-rated lightweight contender Mateusz Gamrot at UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi. 'Benny' has remained unbeaten since 2018, with Alexander Hernandez beating Dariush at UFC 222: Cyborg vs. Kunitskaya.
During this impressive winning streak, the Iran-born fighter has beaten the likes of Tony Ferguson, Diego Ferreira and Drew Dober, among other respected names in the lightweight division.
'Benny' joined the UFC back in 2014, but has been flying under the radar for many years, even going winless in three organizational outings between 2017 and 2018. Edson Barboza and Hernandez managed to beat Dariush during this poor run, with Evan Dunham securing a draw.

However, it would now seem that Beneil Dariush is one of the top contenders for a shot at the lightweight UFC title. But with rumors of a champ vs. champ bout between Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski potentially on the cards, 'Benny' could once again get left out in the cold.
Dariush has rarely spoken out about his disappointment surrounding a lack of opportunities in the UFC, but recently broke his silence when speaking to the media at UFC 280.
The 33-year-old believes that his day will come to face the new Dagestani champion and suggested that the UFC are avoiding him:
"I'm not going anywhere. I will beat down whoever I need to beat down and they can circle that belt around me all they want, they can try and avoid me all they want. But my day will come and what god has planned no one will stop."

How many victories in Beneil Dariush's eight-fight win streak have come via stoppage?
As mentioned, Beneil Dariush has beaten respectable names in the UFC lightweight division. 'Benny' has also done a good job of finishing his fights, with four of his eight wins coming via stoppage.
During this impressive winning spree, the Iranian has managed to finish bouts against Drew Dober, Frank Camacho, Drakkar Klose and Scott Holtzman via stoppage. Both Camacho and Dober were submitted by Dariush within two rounds. Klose and Holtzmann were both KO'd by Dariush, the latter with a spectacular spinning back fist. This string of stoppage victories came during 2019-20 for 'Benny'.
However, 'Benny' has recently been struggling to finish his opponents, most likely due to the level of opposition rising. In his last three fights, Beneil Dariush has beaten Mateusz Gamrot and Tony Ferguson via unanimous decision and Diego Ferreira by split-decision.
