ONE interim strawweight MMA world champion 'The Monkey God' Jarred Brooks of the United States will forever look at Demetrious Johnson as the one that got away.
Brooks had clamored for a cross-divisional showdown with the American MMA legend. But Johnson announced his retirement from the sport earlier this year, dashing any hopes of that fight happening.
In a recent interview with the Bangkok Post, Brooks shared his thoughts on that botched fight and had a message for 'Mighty Mouse'.

'The Monkey God' said:
"I didn't get the opportunity, God didn't put me into that realm. So, all I can say, man. is best of luck to you and I hope you make a shit ton of money outside of fighting."
Regardless, Brooks will be making his flyweight MMA debut this weekend. And with Johnson out of the picture, the ONE flyweight MMA world title is now vacant and looking for a new owner.
Brooks wants to make a statement by taking out a top-five opponent, and perhaps position himself for a shot at that gold to become a two-division world champion.
It all comes to a head this weekend at ONE Fight Night 26 on Prime Video.
