ONE Championship legend Bibiano Fernandes is yearning for a third crack at a world title, but first, he must get past rising bantamweight contender Stephen Loman.
'The Flash' will step into the circle at ONE on Prime Video 4 for the first time since losing his belt to John Lineker earlier in 2022. As expected, the former champion knows how important this upcoming fight is for his title aspirations. Fernandes told ONE Championship of his plans for the bout:
“I’m sure my grappling is far superior to his grappling. I’m sure he’s working hard not to be taken down, but I’m prepared and focused for this fight. I’m training a lot on my striking and my ground game. I’m going to test his grappling, his wrestling, and his striking. I’m sure I’ll have a good fight against him. If he messes up, I’ll finish him.”

The 42-year-old has been excelling on the global stage for over a decade. He has beaten the likes of Kevin Belingon, Reece McLaren, and Martin Nguyen, amongst others.

Bibiano Fernandes has moved on from Lineker loss
The No.3-ranked bantamweight's second world title reign came to a screeching end at the hands of John Lineker earlier this year. The former champ has since moved on and is focused on the here and now. He told ONE Championship:
“The fight with Lineker was a good experience. I hadn’t fought for many years, and I didn’t have a fight rhythm. But now, I’m trained and focused for my next challenge.”
The Brazilian's next foe is a talented striker from the Philippines who has earned back-to-back wins since joining ONE in December 2021. Loman's victories over Yusup Saadulaev and Shoko Sato led to this matchup against Bibiano Fernandes.
The bantamweight world title is currently vacant following the no-contest ruling in the most recent championship bout. With the division being in a state of flux, the winner of Fernandes vs. Loman could very well earn a title shot.
