As the announcement of Jake Paul officially signing with the PFL broke out, Jeremy Stephens was quick to welcome his new colleague into the business but made a guarantee to fans if the two ever got to compete inside the cage.

'Lil Heathen' hasn't enjoyed the best of starts to his PFL career, going 1-2 in the promotion since leaving the UFC back in 2021. Despite being a veteran with dynamite in his hands, the 36-year-old has won just one of his last nine outings in the sport and is seemingly approaching the tail end of his time in MMA.

In a post on social media, Jeremy Stephens promised fans that if he and Jake Paul were to meet in the cage, the YouTube star would be the one to attempt a takedown first.

"Welcome to the Professional Fighters League Jake Paul. Big things to come, but I guarantee you and all the fans, [if] we fight, you're going to shoot first!"

Throughout the 51 fights and 13-year-long MMA career, the former UFC competitor has amassed 19 knockout wins and is a constant threat on the feet against anyone he steps into the cage against.

Although he is now enduring a tough patch, Stephens has collected some huge wins during his time in the octagon and holds wins over Renan Barao, Gilbert Melendez, Josh Emmett, and former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos.

While he may be a couple of years past his prime, the knockout artist arguably poses the biggest threat that 'The Problem Child' has ever faced in the striking department, though the height difference could play a big factor in the outcome.

Who will Jake Paul fight first in the PFL?

Jake Paul burst into the PFL and stole the headlines of the MMA world, but during his announcement, the ever-improving boxer did have one name he wants to compete against in his promotional debut.

Nate Diaz, a veteran of the sport who has been targeted by the younger Paul brother for years, is considered the ideal matchup as stated by the 25-year-old. Not only would they fight in the PFL cage, but the influencer wants a two-fight deal with the Stockton native, with one of those bouts coming in the boxing ring.

While there's no official announcement regarding Diaz's next venture, he is free to do as he pleases following his departure from the UFC and would be a brilliant acquisition for whoever he signs with.
