Canelo Alvarez is arguably boxing's biggest superstar, and his fame and prestige have led many fighters to call for a fight with the Mexican. Whilst plenty of those callouts come from boxers not of the same caliber as Alvarez, several fighters including Terence Crawford provide an interesting matchup for him.
Following Crawford's historic victory over Errol Spence Jr. in 2023, which saw him become the first male two-division undisputed champion in boxing, he indicated his keenness to face the super middleweight champion.
But the Guadalajara native did not return the interest shared by 'Bud', with Alvarez citing the size difference between them as too big a detractor to entertain negotiations for a bout.
Crawford's battle with Israil Madrimov in the American's super welterweight debut on Aug. 3 served as ammunition for those claiming that 'Bud' is too small for the super middleweight champion.

But boxing legend and Hall of Famer, Roy Jones Jr., has shared a strong prediction for a potential fight between 'Bud' and Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez. During a recent interview with Fight Hub TV, he said:
"Do I think Canelo can beat 'Bud'? It's a tough fight to call. I think his size may be his best going factor. But if he goes out and boxes 'Bud', he's not gonna beat 'Bud' boxing. He's not. So, if 'Bud' can take his punch, he's not gonna out-box 'Bud'. What will determine the fight will be who wants it most, and who has their fight plan... If 'Bud' can get Canelo to box him, 'Bud' will out-box him."

Terence Crawford's career is over unless he secures Canelo Alvarez clash, claims Eddie Hearn
Terence Crawford recently became the WBA super welterweight champion after defeating Israil Madrimov via decision. The Nebraska native has aspirations of winning undisputed world titles at 154 pounds, and his win over Madrimov has placed him in a great position to do so.
But boxing promoter Eddie Hearn, who works for Madrimov, recently made a wild claim that unless 'Bud' secures a fight with Canelo Alvarez, he won't fight again.
Hearn was recently interviewed by Fight Hub TV, where he said:
"I don't think Terence Crawford will ever fight again. I think unless he gets Canelo, I don't think Crawford will fight again. He definitely won't fight Virgil Ortiz, won't rematch Madrimov. He made a lot of money and I think he's comfortable, isn't he?"
