Conor McGregor has officially been inactive for over three years as he last entered the octagon when he faced Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 on July 10, 2021. While 'The Notorious' has recovered from the broken leg suffered in the bout and seemingly appeared set to return against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 last month, he was forced to withdraw from his highly-anticipated comeback bout.

The former double champ has shared that he still plans to face 'Iron' at a later date when he is recovered and recently took to X to tease that he is preparing for his return, tweeting:

"Comeback loading… ⚡️"

Fans reacted to the tweet from the biggest star in mixed martial arts by expressing doubt. @jayxbt2012 referenced the famous Aesop Fable, labeling him:

"Boy who cried wolf at this stage"

@nftkoosh claimed that they will not buy tickets until the day before after McGregor pulled out of UFC 303:

"Not buying tickets this time till the day before"

@UnisquityMma questioned his ability to capture his previous level but praised his desire to return:

"Dude ruined international fight week because of a pinky toe. I’ve zero faith in Conor looking anything like he used to. The drop off on his speed, movement and style between Alvarez and Porier 2 was big. Now add a broken leg, partying, other commitments and three years of not fighting into the mix. He is just hype at this stage. The fact that he wants to fight is the most mind blowing thing for me that. Kind of have to respect that"

@n1troz_ believes McGregor will beat both Chandler and Poirier:

"We will humble Chandler and Dustin Again!"

Dustin Poirier questions Conor McGregor pulling out of UFC 303

Conor McGregor was forced out of his UFC 303 matchup against Michael Chandler due to a broken pinky toe. Dustin Poirier, who has shared the octagon with 'The Notorious' three times, questioned his decision. Speaking to Ariel Helwani of The MMA Hour, the No.4-ranked lightweight stated:

"Dude, a pinky toe? It's like, I've fought with so much injuries. Like Conor said he's fought with a lot of injuries he doesn't want to - I've fought with a lot of injuries over the years, but a pinky toe doesn't seem like a reason to pull out of a fight, you know? But also I don't know - like giving him his respect, I also don't know the severity of it."

Check out Dustin Poirier's comments on Conor McGregor below:

Poirier noted that there is the possibility that ligaments, muscles or smaller bones were damaged by the injury. He claimed, however, that if it is just the pinky toe, it is not a reason to pull out of a fight.
