After news of the UFC taking action against James Krause, the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) commission has lifted its ban on the MMA powerhouse.
The announcement comes one week after the province imposed a ban on betting on fights taking place at their events. In a news release, the AGLC outlined the reasons why they lifted the ban, writing:
"With the recent announcements by the UFC that Krause, his managers, and fighters will not be permitted to participate in UFC events, pending Nevada State Athletic Commission's investigation, Alberta Gaming, Liquor, and Cannabis (AGLC) has reinstated UFC betting markets on PlayAlberta.ca."
Despite lifting their, AGLC stressed that they will continue to monitor the situation to ensure that consumers that decide to place wagers will be protected from any wrongdoing, stating:

"Protecting consumers in Alberta is of the utmost importance to AGLC. We will remain vigilant in monitoring the situation and ensure players continue to have safe and secure gaming opportunities in Play Alberta."
It's important to note that the ban coincided with The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario imposing the same ban on wagering on the promotion's fights in their provice. But the Ontario commission hasn't lifted their ban like the province of Alberta has. It will be interesting to see whether Ontario will lift their ban soon or if they wait until the New Year.
There were consequences for James Krause's actions as both he and any fighters that continue to associate with him are prohibited from attending or taking part in any UFC events.
