It appears as though Karate Combat is making a splash as they signed a former UFC fighter who was once touted as the next Francis Ngannou to join their talented roster. The promotion has gained plenty of interest in recent years with its innovative presentation and quality of fights that have even seen MMA legends compete.
According to MMA Fighting, the striking league has signed Robelis Despaigne, who will look to make an impact with the promotion. In addition to his UFC stint, 'The Bad Boy' is an Olympic bronze medalist in taekwondo, so he is much better suited for a combat sport using only his strength in striking rather than MMA and could capitalize on the opportunity and become a bigger combat sports star.
Although he began his MMA career with an unbeaten 4-0 record with all his wins coming via KO/TKO, the Cuban didn't fare as well once he joined that UFC. He made an incredible first impression by picking up a dominant 18-second knockout win over Josh Parisian but didn't fare too well once he faced tougher competition. Despaigne's stint with the promotion ended with back-to-back unanimous decision losses, resulting in his release.
