Ilia Topuria looks to have been granted his wish of fighting for the BMF title next as he will face the current holder of the belt, Max Holloway, according to reports. The pair will clash at UFC 306 at The Sphere in what should be a historic event for the promotion.
Topuria defeated longtime featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 298 to win the title.
Meanwhile, Max Holloway's most recent fight was an unforgettable last-second KO win over Justin Gaethje at UFC 300 to win the BMF title. The Hawaiian's dominant performance, and lack of damage absorbed against Gaethje, made him a fitting candidate for Topuria's first title defense.
'El Matador' was hoping to secure a fight date in his adopted home country of Spain but will certainly settle for a historic and record-breaking evening at The Sphere in Las Vegas in September.
