The UFC has added a marquee featherweight clash to the upcoming UFC Fight Night event. Max Holloway and Arnold Allen will collide in a bout scheduled for April 15 at a location yet to be determined.
ESPN MMA reported that both fighters have agreed to the matchup and will headline the Fight Night card. The bout will provide more clarity as far as the top five in the UFC featherweight rankings are concerned.
Holloway will be competing for the first time since his third loss to reigning featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 276 last July. If he defeats Allen, it will be interesting to see whether he decides to commit to a move to lightweight, especially considering it will be difficult for him to earn another title shot if Volkanovski remains champion at 145 lbs.

'Almighty', on the other hand, has been on an impressive run since joining the UFC in 2015. The No.4-ranked featherweight is currently riding a 12-fight winning streak that includes wins against Gilbert Melendez, Dan Hooker, and Calvin Kattar. He hasn't lost since 2014, and a win against the former champion could very well secure a future title shot.
Will former featherweight champion Max Holloway move to lightweight?
One of the big questions surrounding Max Holloway's future has been whether he will commit to a move up to lightweight. He has already accomplished everything at featherweight. However, he also has three championship losses to reigning champion Alexander Volkanovski.
If 'Volk' remains champion, 'Blessed' would be hard-pressed to make an argument for another title shot no matter how many contenders he beats at 145 lbs.
'Blessed' moved up to lightweight in 2019 when he fought Dustin Poirier for the interim UFC lightweight championship. He came up short in his attempt at champ-champ status. Now, he could be at a point in his career where a move to 155 lbs could rejuvenate his career.
There are many appealing fights for the former featherweight champion at 155lbs should he decide to move up. A potential rematch with Conor McGregor or Charles Oliveira, or a clash with Justin Gaethje, are sure to make MMA fans around the globe salivate and are great stylistic matchups for the Hawaiian.
