Brian Ortega has consistently proven himself as a leading force in the UFC featherweight division for the past decade, showcasing unmatched skill and tenacity in every octagon appearance.

Ortega is set to face Diego Lopes in the co-main event of UFC 303 this Saturday at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. This fight was arranged on just two weeks' notice for both competitors after the original co-headlining bout between Jamahal Hill and Carlos Ulberg was canceled.

'T-City' burst onto the UFC scene in July 2014, swiftly dismantling some of the most prominent and enduring fighters in the division with an ease that seemed almost effortless. Ortega's debut against Mike de la Torre saw him secure a first-round submission victory, but this triumph was later overturned to a no-contest following a positive doping test.

Despite this setback, the 33-year-old Californian rebounded impressively, amassing a six-fight undefeated streak, with each victory coming by way of a finish. This remarkable run earned him a title shot against Max Holloway at UFC 231 in December 2018. However, Ortega faced his first career defeat in this bout, losing by TKO due to a doctor stoppage at the end of the fourth round.

Ortega staged a strong comeback nearly two years later with a commanding unanimous decision victory over 'The Korean Zombie' Chan Sung Jung in October 2020. This impressive win propelled him back into title contention, leading to another shot at the championship against Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 266 in September 2021. Despite pushing the Aussie to his limits, Ortega fell short on the judges' scorecards.

'T-City' returned to competition against Yair Rodriguez in July 2022, but the fight came to an abrupt halt when Ortega suffered a dislocated right shoulder in the opening round. This injury sidelined Ortega once again for nearly two years. However, he made a triumphant return to action with a slick second-round submission victory in a rematch against 'El Pantera' at UFC Mexico this past February.

Which songs did Brian Ortega walk out to?

With a UFC record of 8-3 and one no-contest, Brian Ortega aims to build on his recent victory's momentum to either reclaim his spot in the featherweight title race or send a clear message to the lightweight division if he decides to move up in weight in the future.

'T-City' is renowned for choosing distinctive songs for nearly every octagon appearance, but his entrance at UFC 266 remains one of the most memorable in the MMA promotion's history. For his fight against Alexander Volkanovski, Ortega and his team made a dramatic entrance, wearing masks and accompanied by music inspired by the horror film 'The Purge'.
