Andrew Tate is a controversial figure, to say the least, and is never afraid to face scrutiny. He took that to another level on Sept. 7 by having another contentious personality on his livestream.
Tate went live on Rumble and surprised his fans by bringing on Simon Kaggwa Njala, better known as the 'Why are you gay guy.' The conversation was brief but full of talking points as Tate quickly explained who Njala was and why he was a fan of him.
Njala, a Ugandan journalist, went viral in 2012 for asking transgender man Pepe Julian Onziema "why are you gay" live on television. Clips of the interview went viral on social media, causing many "why are you gay" memes and GIFs.

Since Tate did not announce Njala's appearance before he went live, many were surprised to see the television host on his stream.
One surprised fan wrote:
"Bro brought the real guy"
Others commented:
"Oh man I love this guy"
"That interview is goated"
"Bro turned the tables on Top G"

Who is Simon Kaggwa Njala? The viral personality Andrew Tate interviewed
Despite being born and raised in Uganda, Simon Kaggwa Njala is widely recognized by most young Americans and social media users worldwide. For his interview with Pepe Julian Onziema, Njala is typically not a name most people will know but is a face many will recognize due to having seen the video from his interview or memes based on it.
While some believed the interview was fake due to the context of it, the conversation was a segment on the television program NBS Morning Breeze, an English-spoken show broadcasted in Uganda. Njala still hosts the show in 2024.
Njala also maintains a solid social media presence based on his controversial political opinions. In many respects, he is seen in a similar light as Andrew Tate, a predictable factor in why the two men saw eye-to-eye during their interview.
