Mike Tyson will finally face the YouTuber in Texas in November, four months after the two were originally scheduled to clash. The former heavyweight champion had to withdraw from that fight due to an inflamed ulcer, but he insists he is back in training for his first fight in four years.
'Iron' Mike's last professional fight came against Kevin McBride back in 2005, where he retired on the stool after five rounds. The YouTuber's decision to fight a 57-year-old has invited severe criticisms from the majority of the combat sports community.
Mike Tyson claims he started Jake Paul's career and will finish it too
Mike Tyson is set to make his highly anticipated return to the ring when he squares off against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in November. The Hall of Famer recently made an appearance on It is what it is, a popular podcast, and spoke about his upcoming bout with the 27-year-old influencer.
Incidentally, Paul's second fight came on the undercard of Tyson's exhibition main event against Roy Jones Jr. Although, Paul has gone on to become one of the biggest names in boxing, Tyson claimed he didn't know who he was when he featured on his undercard. When asked what he thinks about Paul as a boxer, the heavyweight legend stated:
“I don’t know, um, he’s improved, since the first time he fought on my card. Well, I started him off. I started Jake off.”
When the host asked him to clarify, the New York native added:
“I let him fight on my undercard four years ago No one knew who the hell he was. So, I started him and most likely looks like I’m gonna finish him.”
