With the win, Muhammad extended his unbeaten streak to 11, which is the fourth-longest in UFC welterweight history. The only fighters with longer streaks are Kamaru Usman (15), Edwards, and Georges St-Pierre (12). He also put an end to Edwards' 13-fight unbeaten run.
Muhammad's victory over Edwards gave him the division's longest active unbeaten streak and extended his winning streak to six.
What's next for Belal Muhammad?
After an impressive performance against Leon Edwards at UFC 304, Belal Muhammad addressed the media at the post-fight press conference. The new welterweight champion listed several great opponents at 170 pounds while addressing his future plans.
Muhammad expressed interest in stepping up to middleweight if he can clear his current division, saying:
"I just want to be the guy that did everything you said I couldn't do. Then if we go up and if, what's his name, Dricus [Du Plessis] still has the title, he beats, what's his face, [Israel] Adesanysa, he was trying to talk tough to me, I'll go smack him around, try to get two belts."
