MMA fans recently voiced their thoughts about Jon Jones' appearance in the new Netflix web series, 'The Cage'. Despite Jones' feat of making it to a Netflix web series, most fans chose to deride him regarding his UFC issues.
Jones is in the final days of his training camp for the UFC 309 encounter against Stipe Miocic. The fight will mark his first heavyweight title defense and will be his first fight after a prolonged hiatus of more than a year and a half.
However, a large chunk of the MMA fanbase is skeptical about Jones choosing Miocic as his first title defense rival, ignoring the current interim heavyweight champ, Tom Aspinall's callouts for a title unification fight.
A recent X post from @ChampRDS showcased a short clip of Jones' role in 'The Cage'. Its comments section showcased most fans were not in the mood to congratulate Jones on his achievement.

Instead, many threw disses at him due to his negligence towards Aspinall's callouts. One such comment read:
"Bro switching careers just to Duck Tom Aspinall"
Others wrote:
"The duck of the century”"
"Full name: "The Cage: Where Johnny boy hides from Aspinall"
"Ciryl Gane better actor"

Jon Jones prefers a fight against Alex Pereira over locking horns with Tom Aspinall
Conventionally, the interim champion of a division becomes the first in line to get a shot at the undisputed divisional gold. However, Jon Jones's activities have showcased that he doesn't care much about this tradition.
Aspinall beat Sergei Pavlovich for the interim heavyweight championship at UFC 295 on short notice after Jones pulled out of his scheduled main event against Miocic at the pay-per-view. So, the UK native should be the next one after Miocic to get a shot at the undisputed UFC heavyweight gold.
However, in a recent interview with Kevin Iole, Jones mentioned that he would like to take on Alex Pereira instead of Aspinall if he continues fighting after UFC 309:
"I feel like Tom Aspinall is, I don't want to say 'nobody', but he just hasn't proven anything. He hasn't done anything... I'm not here to gamble, [with] someone else making a name off of me... If there were to be a fight [with] a guy that's still on the UFC roster that would be, not only financially worth it, but [his] 'legacy' [also] worth it, it would be Alex Pereira."
