Former UFC lightweight title challenger Michael Chandler recently shared his new custom-designed fight shorts for UFC 309 this weekend. Despite the obvious excitement of 'Iron' towards his new shorts from the UFC's official outfitter, Venum, his fans aren't sharing the same level of enthusiasm.
Aside from his apparel, Chandler also shared his opponent, Charles Oliveira's, custom-designed shorts. He also included the night's main event fighter, former two-time UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic, and his Croatia-inspired shorts.
"My custom #ufc309 fight shorts on sale this week. 🇺🇸⚫️"

X user who goes by @overturnthat found a striking similarity between Chandler's shorts and his former opponent, Justin Gaethje's, saying:
"Bro wants to be Gaethje so bad 😭"
Meanwhile, @TheLionOfWeb3 was respectful of his favourite idol while still criticizing the shorts' apparent bland design:
"Michael. I really like you. Top man, fighter, father… The list goes on… Also the BEST on the mic 🎤 With the above being said. Could you be any more plain with your shorts. Unless it’s homage to Iron Mike I feel these are far too basic"

Michael Chandler reflects on loss to Charles Oliveira ahead of rematch at UFC 309
At UFC 309 this coming weekend, Michael Chandler will rematch former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira in a five-round co-main event contest. The two first met in 2021, where they battled for the lightweight throne which was freshly vacated by Khabib Nurmagomedov.
The bout was a back-and-forth affair, in which 'Iron' nearly finished 'Do Bronx' only to get himself stopped when the Brazilian miraculously came back to life in the second round. Speaking to Ariel Helwani on The Ariel Helwani Show, the former Bellator champion spoke about how it felt to lose his first UFC world title shot to Oliveira:
"That [loss to Oliveira] was, probably, the most painful point in my career after a loss. That was my one opportunity, I thought that was my one opportunity [to become UFC champion]... It's the what have you done for me lately business. It is you lose and all the sudden I'm the flavor of the week this week, people are excited to watch me fight. You lose, what happens next? Are you able to build yourself back?"

Despite losing to Oliveira that night, Chandler showed the heart and courage of a warrior. He then went on to win performance bonuses in every fight he's fought since, proving that win or lose, he'll always aim to bring the house down every time he enters the octagon.
