"Brotha..Fish has zero grappling" - Fans react as Islam Makhachev shows off his fishing exploits

UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev is a man of many interests and talents. Being one of the best in the world inside the octagon, it seems the Dagestani fighter translates this fervent championship mentality into everything he does.

In his recent exploits outside fighting, the 155-pound champion showed off his fishing skills, posting a video of him catching a large fish for dinner. Makhachev uploaded it on Instagram with the caption:

"Dinner time 🎣"

Fans jumped in on the comments section to let the champion know how they felt about him catching a gigantic barracuda. Some hilariously poked fun at the idea, with @umar34_xd saying:

"Brotha..Fish has zero grappling."

Islam Makhachev wants to face Max Holloway if Arman Tsarukyan rematch falls through

Aside from the large barracuda in the ocean, Islam Makhachev is also quite interested in fighting only the top opposition inside the Octagon. In his appearance at the UFC Abu Dhabi event last weekend, the Dagestani world champion spoke to the media about possible next challengers to his throne.

One was the obvious contender Arman Tsarukyan, who lost to Makhachev in 2019 but is on a four-fight winning streak. Second was Max Holloway, the red-hot BMF champion and former UFC featherweight kingpin.

The UFC lightweight champ said:

"Why not? I already beat Arman. If UFC puts him next, that’s no problem. But, I’m not excited [that] much. I need new name, new challenger, I already beat Arman. If Max wants, let’s do it. I don’t need his [BMF] belt, but Max is a good name. It’s going to be a crazy fight for the fans.”
