ONE heavyweight contender Marcus 'Buchecha' Almeida took a welcome respite from training this week to enjoy surfing the waves in Rio de Janeiro.
The six foot three Brazilian superstar showcased his moves with a good ol’-fashioned life preserver and some swim trunks to practice the difficult art of surfing in his native Brazil.
Sharing the footage on Instagram, 'Buchecha' couldn’t help but be self-deprecating about his surfing skills online with the caption that said:
“I tried Tow-in Surfing for me first time a couple of weeks ago in Rio De Janeiro, surfing is not on point but the important is to have fun! 😂.”

The BJJ wizard has a big fight coming up and taking some time off to enjoy the hot weather is just what the doctors prescribed. In the upcoming months, he’ll have the gargantuan task of beating one of the most dangerous fighters in the division on August 5 in Bangkok.
After two years in the making, 'Buchecha' is finally scheduled to fight ‘Reug Reug’ Oumar Kane. The anticipated matchup comes after Buchecha’s fourth consecutive victory against former interim world title challenger Kirill Grishenko last August, which officially put him in the running for the ONE heavyweight world title.
Kane, for his part, also returns to the stage with a bit of momentum. He’s coming off impressive back-to-back victories last year and is ready to add one more before taking a stab at a world title. However, defeating 'Buchecha' will also be an uphill task for ‘Reug Reug'.
The Brazilian has swiftly defeated all of his four past opponents in the first round without taking any damage. To beat him requires an intelligent game plan, courage, and explosive power.
Combining everything these two heavyweights could do skillswise, Buchecha vs. Kane will be a fighting-to-the-death MMA brawl that will have fans on the edge of their seats.
