“Kade might not be used to it” - 'Buchecha' reveals potential difficulties for Kade Ruotolo against Uali Kurzhev

Elite grappler Marcus ‘Buchecha’ Almeida has been no secret fan of the Ruotolo brothers who recently set the grappling world alight.

A 17-time world champion in his own right, 'Buchecha' has made it clear just how impressed he was by Kade Ruotolo’s record-breaking ADCC 2022 performance. Submitting all four of his opponents on his way to becoming champion of the under-77kg division, Kade became the youngest-ever ADCC World Champion.

At ONE on Prime Video 3 this Friday, the American prodigy will face Uali Kurzhev for the ONE lightweight submission grappling world championship. Kurzhev being a multiple time Sambo world champion brings a new challenge to Ruotolo and this clash of styles is sure to make for a great match-up.

‘Buchecha’ gave his thoughts on the contest and how they will approach the fight when talking to ONE Championship:

“I knew he was from Sambo, but I didn't know he also came from Judo. It's a different game, Kade might not be used to it. But I'm sure he knows that and will be prepared for foot lock situations, because he attacks and defends very well. I think it will be a great fight."

He added:

"I believe it's easier for Kade to find someone to train with Uali's style than for Uali to find someone with Kade's style to simulate his game.”
