Marcus ‘Buchecha’ Almeida believes the highly anticipated submission grappling showcase between reigning ONE world champion Kade Ruotolo and challenger Tommy Langaker will come down to whoever makes the first mistake.
Kade Ruotolo, the 20-year-old Brazilian jiu-jitsu prodigy, will defend his ONE lightweight submission grappling world championship on June 9 as ONE Championship returns to the legendary Lumpinee Boxing Stadium at ONE Fight Night 11 on Prime Video. Hoping to hand Ruotolo his first loss under the ONE banner will be Norwegian standout Langaker.
In an interview with ONE Championship, ‘Buchecha’ shared his thoughts on the submission showdown, suggesting that the match will likely favor the man who avoids making a mistake first.
“And I think that it’s gonna be a perfect fight for Kade because Kade will play a lot from top, trying to pass,” Almeida said. “So whoever makes the first mistake will pay the price.”

ONE Championship recently announced ‘Buchecha’s return to the Circle this summer for a potential clash with heavyweight knockout artist Oumar ‘Reug Reug’ Kane. The two rising contenders have been scheduled to scrap on more than one occasion, but things fell through. Now, it appears that ONE has booked the long-awaited bout for a third time.
In the meantime, fans can expect to see another spectacular event on June 9. In addition to a can’t-miss grappling contest between Kade Ruotolo and Tommy Langaker, reigning two-division ONE world champion Regian Eersel will put his ONE lightweight Muay Thai world championship on the line against Russian debutant Dmitry Menshikov.
