On Friday, October 21st, Kade Ruotolo makes his long-awaited return to ONE Championship after a successful run at the 2022 ADCC World Championships that saw one-half of the fan-favorite brothers become the tournament's youngest world champion, Ruotolo will look to make history once again in U.S. primetime.
Kade Ruotolo will battle to become the inaugural ONE lightweight submission grappling world champion. Standing in his way will be accomplished judoka and sambo national champion Uali Kurzhev.
Ahead of the highly-anticipated contest, 17-time BJJ world champion Marcus ‘Buchecha’ Almeida gave his breakdown of the contest. Having watched Ruotolo evolve from a promising young boy into a legitimate submission grappling star, the undefeated heavyweight believes that Ruotolo will make history once again at ONE on Prime Video 3.
“I think it will be a very interesting fight. I'm looking forward to seeing this fight. I'm sure it will be a big fight. I think Kade is in a very good moment, he's in the best phase of his career, he got his black belt recently, and he's already putting on a show. I think this will help him get into this fight well and win the belt.”

Kade Ruotolo excited to test his skills against sambo specialist Uali Kurzhev
Making an appearance at ONE's virtual press conference ahead of his return to the Circle on Friday night, Kade Ruotolo shared his thoughts on the eagerly-awaited match-up that will pit the two different grappling styles against one another.
"Someone left a comment on my last Instagram post: ‘If Sambo was easy, it would be called Jiu-Jitsu.’ So these matches [jiu-jitsu vs. sambo] are really cool, we can merge the two styles. Sambo guys have great takedowns and leg locks, so it’ll be fun to figure out his style. But I believe in BJJ, we have a few more moves, more options, so it’ll be an interesting matchup."
During the press conference, ONE newcomer Uali Kurzhev spoke about his opponent, believing Kade Ruotolo is in for a rude awakening when he steps into the Circle with an opponent like nobody he has ever faced before.
“I’ve been in the sport of sambo for 27 years. I’m sure Kade has never experienced an opponent like me since he’s so specialized. I’ll bring it to him in this match."
