Buchecha vs. Reug Reug Set For ONE Fight Night 13 on August 4

Heavyweight superstars Marcus ‘Buchecha’ Almeida and ‘Reug Reug’ Oumar Kane will lock horns at ONE Fight Night 13.

The pair were scheduled to face one another twice – in 2021 and 2022 – but injuries forced both those meetings to hit a standstill.

But with both men fit now, it’s all systems go for their hotly-anticipated heavyweight duel, which will be broadcasted live on U.S. primetime on Friday, August 4.

‘Buchecha’s’ debut in the all-encompassing sport was supposed to come against the Senegalese colossal in 2021. However, the 971 MMA and Black Panther Sports representative pulled out from the tie due to an undisclosed injury.

As a result, the multiple-time BJJ world champion made his promotional bow at ONE: Revolution in September 2021, and the grappling wizard opened his account with a sublime north-south choke against Anderson Silva at just 2:55 of the battle.

Three months later, the American Top Team and Evolve MMA standout followed up his debut with another submission victory, ending ‘Mighty Warrior’ Kang Ji Won’s perfect run inside the Circle with a rear-naked choke finish.

Almeida-Kane was then slated to take place at ONE 156 in April last year, but ‘Reug Reug’ suffered another untimely injury that led to yet another postponement.

The 32-year-old BJJ icon did not let that slow down his scale up the stacked heavyweight division, though.

‘Buchecha’ saw off Simon Carson at ONE 158 inside the opening round, and he picked up another statement win against interim heavyweight world title challenger Kirill Grishenko at ONE on Prime Video 1 in August last year.

Meanwhile, Kane bagged two wins upon his return – against Batradz Gazzaev and Jasur Mirzamukhamedov – to set him up nicely for another potential bout against ‘Buchecha’.

After targeting a match with each other for quite some time, they will finally step into the Circle at ONE Fight Night 13.

A win for either athlete could potentially land them a battle against the king of the division, Anatoly Malykhin or Arjan Bhullar, whoever it may be, once the two kings unify their belt at ONE Friday Fights 22 on June 23.
