Brazilian striker and former ONE bantamweight MMA king John Lineker is confident that he is well on his way towards fighting for 26 pounds of Muay Thai gold.
In an interview with ONE, Lineker talked about what he needs to do to secure his opportunity at a Muay Thai world championship:
"To get to a title fight, I believe you have to do what I'm doing. Get in the ring and win fights. Each fight definitely brings me closer to a title fight. I don't think it just depends on beating a big name, I believe that building a good resume, winning fights in a row like I've been doing, could qualify me for a title fight."

After an accomplished MMA career, 'Hands of Stone' started competing under Muay Thai rules in 2024, where his powerful striking abilities could give his fighting career a new lease on life.
He did just that by posting back-to-back knockouts of Muay Thai stars Asa Ten Pow and Alexey Balyko in September and October of that year, respectively.
Now, he will look to add Kulabdam Sor Jor Piek Uthai to that list when they clash at ONE Fight Night 27 on Friday, Jan. 10, inside the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
The event will air live and free to all Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
John Lineker wants to regain MMA gold
John Lineker is determined to reclaim the bantamweight MMA crown that fellow Brazilian Fabricio Andrade currently holds. 'Wonder Boy' will defend the throne against Kwon Won Il at ONE 170 on Jan. 24 inside the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.
In a separate conversation with ONE, Lineker mentioned:
"I also want to focus on the MMA belt. Fabricio Andrade will put his title on the line and will defend it against Kwon Won [Il]. So, that's all I hope for in 2025."
