Marvin Vettori recently took to X to reveal that he is considering retirement, but wants to face a low-effort top 10 middleweight before calling it a career. This drew the immediate attention of fans, some of whom called for him to take on streaking 185-pound grappler Caio Borralho.
Both men are in close proximity in the middleweight rankings. 'The Italian Dream' is #7 ranked 185-pounder on the roster, while Borralho is ranked just ahead of him at #6. Regardless of who he faces, many in the MMA fandom are puzzled over Vettori's announcement.
"So who wants to fight an easy top 10 guy on his way to retirement? I'm ok with anyone, just my last few so maybe i can call it"

Fans flocked to his tweet with both suggestions and questions. Some wondered exactly why Vettori, a former middleweight title challenger at just 31 years old, is seemingly considering retirement, especially without ever realizing his championship dreams.
One fan asked him, point-blank, why he was retiring, as it is a decision that appears to have been made without prior warning.
"Why you retiring?"
Others pointed out his age, erroneously referring to him as a 29-year-old.
"Retire? Brah you're like 29 lol."
Some, though, indulged the Italian's request, proposing Borralho as a sensible foe.
"Caio Borralho makes sense."
This was a sentiment shared by another fan.
"*Cough* Caio Borralho"
