Caleb Plant wasn't happy with a fan calling him a "bum" while they were in the same room.

Later this week, Sept. 14, Canelo Alvarez will headline a highly anticipated boxing event inside the T-Mobile Arena to celebrate Mexican Independence Day. Alvarez is scheduled to defend his super middleweight world titles against Edgar Berlanga, who looks to pull off a massive upset at 27 years old.

The Canelo vs. Berlanga main card features several other intriguing matchups, including Erislandy Lara vs. Danny Garcia and Caleb Plant vs. Trevor McCumby.

Due to Canelo's star power, the main card boxers are featured in various media opportunities throughout the week. Plant recently made an appearance for a quick interview when a fan caught his attention by calling him a "bum" nearby.

'Sweethands' turned to the heckler and responded by saying:

"Say what? Come up here and say that to my face. Yeah, come up here and say that to my face, see how that works out. I'll show you what a bum looks like."

The aggressive fan unsurprisingly didn't make his way onto the stage. Regardless of the unknown person's fighting experience, he decided not to escalate the situation as Plant is a highly respected boxer with a 22-2 professional record.

Caleb Plant looks to bounce back with impressive performance against Trevor McCumby

In March 2023, Caleb Plant was matched up against David Benavidez. Plant was riding momentum heading into the intriguing matchup following a highlight-reel knockout against Anthony Dirrell, which ended their heated rivalry.

Plant couldn't pull off the slight upset against Benavidez, losing by unanimous decision against one of the sport's rising superstars. Nearly a year and a half later, 'Sweethands' returns on the Canelo vs. Berlanga main card with an opportunity to become the interim WBA super middleweight world champion.

Plant's upcoming opponent is Trevor McCumby, who holds a professional boxing record of 28-0 (21 KOs). McCumby is a massive underdog in the matchup due to his lack of high-level opposition compared to Plant.

With that said, the 31-year-old plans to silence the doubters and take away Plant's bounce-back moment.
